《朝鲜半岛的项链-北纬38 》 王皆个展
对于当代关于国家（完全不同于历史的或系统的）讨论来说，有着两种截然相对的可能性。一种是可能要求实现了国家理想的国家。另一种可能是考虑在它的现实的基础上可以被希望的国家。(1)
北纬38在朝鲜半岛理想与希望同时复苏。
我出生在中国青海果洛藏族自治区久治县。学生时期在青海西宁东关回族聚集区成长。大字学习于青海师大艺术系。毕业那年正是89年6.4学运。
成长的环境造就了我对文化差异以及社会政治特有的敏感。而这种敏感在这个以文字，图像，声音构成的现实中不断放大。这也许就是我的艺术内容的来源。
今天在政治和经济的张力的挤压下，个体的存在微不足道。而科技的发展自媒体的应用给个体的存在带来了全新的意义。
朝解半岛的项链-北纬38 是个体对历史事件的记录。同时也是对一个国家的希望与期待。这种希望与期待正如制作这些作品中的文字所表达的佛教哲学思想。实现真实需要智慧的方法，文字只是途径之一。
北纬38°曾今是一道伤痛的裂痕。政治的智慧将把它变成美丽的项链。让我们共同期待。

WANG Jie Solo Exhibition
A few random thoughts prior to the opening of
my solo exhibition…
The contemporary debate on “nation” (completely different
from in historical or systematic terms) may conjure up two
opposed possibilities. One possibility requires the fulfillment of
its national ideals; another bears the expectations of its status
quo and is likely to live up to such expectations（1）
Latitude 38° N in the Korean Peninsula happens to be where both
ideals and expectations concurrently revive.
I was born in Jiuzhi County, Golog Tibetan Autonomous
Prefecture, Qinghai in the North West of China. My schooling
years elapsed in eastern Xining, the provincial capital city, where
Muslim residents dominated demographically. Then I moved on as
an undergraduate to the Department of Fine Art in Qinghai Normal
University. I graduated right after the June Students’ Movement in
1989. In other words, my formative years were profoundly
impacted by the local ethnic diversity so I grew up to be socially
and politically aware. Such keen awareness has never ceased
evolving and collating with the reality of words, images and
sounds in my adult life, which I acknowledge to be the key
ingredients of my art creations.
Today, in the squeeze of political and economic tensions,
individual beings tend to become increasingly insignificant. On
the other hand, however, the advance of science and technology
and such unprecedented applications as we media are likely to
bring about brand-new significance to individual existence.
The Korean Peninsula Necklace – Latitude 38 is an individual’s
documentation of historical events. It also serves to extend hope
a nd expectations to the nation in harmony with the Buddhist
philosophical writing where the stamped characters are from.
While words are but a means to the end, to reach the ultimate
reality, it takes genuine wisdom.
Latitude 38° N was once a rift of pain. True political wisdom is
turning it into a beautiful necklace. Let’s look forward to this
miracle.
